What is Blended Learning?
Blended learning is suitable for:
Workplace first aiders
School and nursery staff
Healthcare and support workers
Anyone completing workplace certification

Blended learning combines online theory with hands-on practical training.
Instead of spending a full day in a classroom, learners complete the knowledge-based content online first, then attend a shorter in-person session focused on practical skills.
This approach gives you flexibility without losing the quality of face-to-face training.
Step 1 – Online Learning
Complete the theory at your own pace before your practical session.
Accessible on any device
Pause and return anytime
Learn key first aid principles
Prepare for your practical session
Blended First Aid Training

Step 2 – Practical Training

Step 3 – Certification

Q: What is blended learning?
A: Blended learning combines online theory training with practical, face-to-face training. Learners complete the knowledge-based content online at their own pace before attending a practical session with an instructor to demonstrate and assess skill
Q: How does blended learning work for First Aid courses?
A: Learners complete an online e-learning module first, covering the theoretical knowledge. They then attend a practical training session where skills such as CPR, recovery position, and first aid scenarios are assessed by a qualified instructor.
Q: Do I need to complete the online training before attending the practical session?
A: Yes. The online learning must be completed before attending the practical session. This ensures all learners arrive with the required knowledge to take part in hands-on training and assessment.
Q: What happens if I don’t complete the online learning in time?
A: If the online learning is not completed before the practical date, you may not be able to attend the session and may need to reschedule. This ensures compliance with course requirements and HSE standards. The best thing to do is get in touch, and we will review each request on its own merit.
Q: How long does the online training take?
A: The online learning duration varies depending on the course type. Refresher modules can take around 1 hour, while regulated qualifications typically take 3, 6, or 12 hours of online learning, depending on the course level. The training can be completed in multiple sessions at a time that suits the learner.
Q: Do I need to attend both parts in person?
A: Yes. While the theory is completed online, the practical assessment must be attended in person with a qualified instructor to meet certification requirements.
Q: Are blended learning certificates the same as classroom-based courses?
A: Yes. Certificates issued are identical and fully HSE-compliant, regardless of whether the course is delivered via blended or traditional classroom learning
Q: Can blended learning be delivered for workplace groups?
A: Yes. We offer blended learning for workplace bookings, allowing staff to complete the online element individually before attending a group practical session on-site or at one of our venues.
