Q: Is First Aid at Work (FAW) mandatory?
A: Employers must provide appropriate first aid arrangements under the Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981. The type and level of first aid training required will depend on your workplace first aid needs assessment. FAW may be appropriate where a more comprehensive level of first aid training is identified as necessary.
Q: How long is the First Aid at Work course?
A: First Aid at Work (FAW) requires a minimum of 18 hours of training. GO! First Aid offers FAW as a three-day face-to-face course or through blended learning, combining online learning with instructor-led practical training.
Q: How long is an FAW certificate valid for?
A: The First Aid at Work certificate is valid for 3 years. The HSE recommends that first aiders complete annual refresher training during this period to help maintain their skills and confidence.
Q: Can I progress from EFAW to FAW?
A: Yes. If you have completed Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) and would like more comprehensive workplace first aid training, you can progress to First Aid at Work (FAW). Contact us and we'll explain the training options available.
Q: Do you offer blended FAW training?
A: Yes. Our blended FAW course combines online learning with instructor-led practical training. Learners complete the online element before attending their practical training, reducing time away from the workplace while still developing and demonstrating essential first aid skills.
Q: Where do you provide First Aid at Work training?
A: GO! First Aid provides First Aid at Work training across Manchester and Greater Manchester. We can deliver FAW training at your workplace, or individuals and smaller teams can join one of our scheduled open courses at local Greater Manchester venues. If you're based outside Greater Manchester, please get in touch to discuss your requirements.
Q: How many people can attend an FAW course?
A: Our in-house FAW courses can accommodate up to 12 learners per trainer. For larger groups of up to 24, we can provide two trainers. Individuals and smaller groups can also book places on our scheduled open courses across Greater Manchester.
Q: Can staff from different departments attend the same course?
A: Yes. Staff from different departments can train together, and practical scenarios can be made relevant to the types of workplace situations your team may encounter.
Q: How is the FAW course assessed?
A: Learners are assessed throughout the course through practical activities and assessments, alongside the required theory assessment.
Q: Do you provide FAW certificates?
A: Yes. Learners who successfully complete the course and assessment receive a First Aid at Work (FAW) certificate, valid for 3 years.
