Our 1-day Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) course gives learners the practical skills and confidence to respond to common workplace emergencies, including CPR, AED awareness, choking, bleeding, shock and other essential first aid skills.
Courses are available across Greater Manchester, either at your workplace or through our scheduled open courses.

Q: Is Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) mandatory?
A: Employers must provide appropriate first aid arrangements under the Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981. The type and level of first aid training required will depend on your workplace first aid needs assessment. EFAW may be suitable for lower-risk workplaces, while some workplaces may require the more comprehensive First Aid at Work (FAW) course
Q: How long is the Emergency First Aid at Work course?
A: EFAW requires a minimum of 6 hours of training. GO! First Aid offers the course as a one-day face-to-face course or as blended learning, combining online learning with an instructor-led practical session.
Q: How long is an EFAW certificate valid for?
A: The Emergency First Aid at Work certificate is valid for 3 years. The HSE recommends that first aiders complete annual refresher training during this period to help maintain their skills and confidence.
Q: Can I upgrade from EFAW to FAW?
A: Yes. If you have completed EFAW and would like more comprehensive workplace first aid training, you can progress to First Aid at Work (FAW). Contact us and we'll explain the training options available.
Q: Do you offer blended EFAW training?
A: Yes. Our blended EFAW course combines online learning with instructor-led practical training. Learners complete the online element before attending their practical session, reducing time away from the workplace while still developing and demonstrating essential first aid skills.
Q: Can you train my team on-site?
A: Yes. GO! First Aid delivers EFAW training at workplaces across Greater Manchester. In-house courses are available for up to 12 learners per trainer, with two trainers available for larger groups of up to 24. Training can be delivered fully face-to-face or as blended learning.
Q: Where do you provide Emergency First Aid at Work training?
A: GO! First Aid provides Emergency First Aid at Work training across Manchester and Greater Manchester. We can deliver EFAW training at your workplace, or individuals and smaller teams can join one of our scheduled open courses at local Greater Manchester venues. If you're based outside Greater Manchester, please get in touch to discuss your requirements.
Q: How many people can attend a course?
A: Our in-house EFAW courses can accommodate up to 12 learners per trainer. For larger groups of up to 24, we can provide two trainers. Individuals and smaller groups can also book places on our scheduled open courses across Greater Manchester.

A: Yes. Staff from different departments can train together, and practical scenarios can be made relevant to the types of workplace situations your team may encounter.
