Q: Is Paediatric First Aid (PFA) mandatory?
A: Early years providers in England must meet the paediatric first aid requirements set out in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) statutory framework. At least one person with a current full Paediatric First Aid certificate must be on the premises and available whenever children are present and must accompany children on outings. GOV.UK

Q: How long is a PFA certificate valid for?
A: A Paediatric First Aid certificate is valid for 3 years and must be renewed every three years to remain current. GOV.UK Assets
Q: Do you offer blended PFA training?
A: Yes. Our blended Paediatric First Aid course combines online learning with instructor-led face-to-face practical training. The online element is completed before the practical training, allowing learners to complete part of the course flexibly while meeting the practical training requirements of the EYFS.
Q: Can you train my team on-site?
A: Yes. GO! First Aid delivers Paediatric First Aid training at nurseries, schools and other childcare settings across Greater Manchester. In-house courses are available for up to 12 learners per trainer, with two trainers available for larger groups of up to 24.
Q: Where do you provide Paediatric First Aid training?
A: GO! First Aid provides Paediatric First Aid training across Manchester and Greater Manchester. We can deliver PFA training at your nursery, school or setting, or individuals and smaller teams can join one of our scheduled open courses at local Greater Manchester venues.
Q: How many people can attend a PFA course?
A: Our in-house Paediatric First Aid courses can accommodate up to 12 learners per trainer. For larger groups of up to 24, we can provide two trainers. Individuals and smaller groups can also book places on our scheduled open courses.
Q: Can staff from different roles attend the same course?
A: Yes. Nursery staff, teachers, teaching assistants, childminders and other people responsible for babies and children can train together, with practical scenarios made relevant to the learners and their setting.
Q: What is the difference between Paediatric First Aid (PFA) and Emergency Paediatric First Aid (EPFA)?
A: Full Paediatric First Aid (PFA) requires a minimum of 12 hours of training and covers a wider range of childhood injuries and illnesses. Emergency Paediatric First Aid (EPFA) requires a minimum of 6 hours and focuses on essential emergency first aid skills. Q: Do you provide certificates?
A: Yes. Learners who successfully complete the course and assessment receive a Paediatric First Aid (PFA) certificate, valid for 3 years.
